February Swimmer of the Month-Colorado

February 20th, 2012

Congratulations to Abigail!  She is our Colorado Swimmer of the Month for February.  She started lessons in a level 1 at our Lone Tree location and has since transferred to our Aurora location.  Over this time she has made great efforts to get over a fear of the water.  Once she found Miss Carol as her instructor she has excelled in her efforts and has recently graduated this week from level 3 and is now a level 4!  During our most recent show and tell she swam the entire length of the pool with side breathing.  Way to go Abigail!  Abigail is very excited every week when she comes to swim lessons and we are excited to see what the future will hold for Miss Abigail.  Congratulations from the Aurora SafeSplash team on an award that is well deserved.

What is your favorite part of swimming lessons? I like learning to swim because it helps me to stay safe!

What is your favorite stroke? I love side stroke because I like to try new things.

What is the most difficult stroke for you to swim? Freestyle, it took me a long time to learn side breathing.

What have you learned in swimming that you are most proud of? Chicken, Bird, Soldier (Elementary Backstroke).  I learned it really fast and when you put your arms and legs together, you go really far!  I also love the dolphin kick because it reminds me of the Dolphintale Movie.

What is your favorite thing that your swim instructor does during lessons? Helped me learn how to swim.

What will motivate you to get your next ribbon? I have to swim a full length of the pool three more times and I will get to pass level 3!

If you could be the teacher for a day, what would you teach? Chicken, Bird, Soldier (Elementary Backstroke)

What do you want to be when you grow up? A teacher, a secret spy agent – so I can see what other people are doing or a QB (football quarter back) because I have a great throwing arm!

Who is the best swimmer you know? Miss Carol, my teacher!

Keller Swimmer of the Month

February 13th, 2012

Morgan Gardner is Keller, TX Swimmer of the Month.  Morgan is in Pre-K and has been a SafeSplash swimmer for 10 months.  Her hobbies are swimming, playing with her brother and friends, arts and crafts, reading books, and writing. Morgan’s family includes mom, Robin; dad, Deric; and brother, Trevor. Morgan was selected as Swimmer of the Month because of her ability to use her swim skills outside of class.  Morgan and her family had a holiday vacation in Florida where she spent the entire week swimming in the pool.  Her family was amazed at how she continued to use her swim skills that she learned in class, and reported it back to her instructor, Lindsey.  When Lindsey heard about the trip, she was very proud of Morgan for applying her techniques outside of the pool “classroom”. Morgan has always been a great student.  She is always willing to try new things.  She even likes to help the instructor by saying who should go first and what to do next in class.  When it comes to swimming under the water, Morgan is just like a fish with excellent kickers and bubbles.  Her next technique to conquer is getting her “Big Arms” freestyle stroke on top of the water.  Once Lindsey can keep her on top of the water, Morgan will be swimming freestyle in no time.

January Swimmer of the Month-Colorado

January 24th, 2012

Congratulations to Beaux!  He is our January Swimmer of the Month in Colorado.  Beaux has been swimming at our Lone Tree, CO facility since August of 2011.  When he first started with SafeSplash, he was very scared of the water.  Within 4 months Beaux moved from a level 1 to almost a level 3.  What an awesome accomplishment!  He really enjoys swimming and has come so far since his first lesson!  His mom, Lyndsey, is thrilled that he now enjoys swimming and looks forward to coming to swim lessons.   We are all very proud of Beaux and what he has done in the last 4 months.  Amanda, his swim instructor, is extremely proud of him.  Amanda states, “I think Beaux should be swimmer of the month because it takes a lot of courage and bravery to overcome a traumatic experience like the one Beaux had and he always does it with a smile. I love having Beaux in my class. Beaux always has a “I know I can do this attitude” and a smile on his face. When I first got Beaux  in my class he wasn’t doing much swimming by himself and was very afraid to try anything. Now he is floating and swimming on the barbell by himself. Beaux can successfully swim 10-15 feet by himself without any help! Truly a success.”

What is your child swimming in?

December 20th, 2011

When choosing a swim lesson program for your child it is not only important to look at the curriculum and the instructors, but also the facility and the pool water.  At SafeSplash Swim School we take water quality extremely seriously.  Our indoor pools are warm and our water is clear. Why would you put your child in less than the best?  Here is what sets us apart:

footer-innertube.pngAt SafeSplash we have at least one Certified Pool Operator (CPO) on site daily.  We continue to innovate and look for improvements in sanitation technology to make sure your child is in the cleanest, safest water possible.

footer-innertube.pngAt our dedicated facilities we purify the water in our pools with in-line Ultraviolet purification systems rather than a traditional bleach based system. UV lowers the overall chlorine level in the water while killing all bacteria without the use of chemicals or foreign agents in the process. This creates water chemistry that extremely safe and crystal clear.

footer-innertube.pngWhen choosing pools for our non-dedicated sites we use extremely high standards when it comes to the chemicals they use and the way they maintain their pools.  We oversee pool operation daily at these facilities, as well.

footer-innertube.pngThere are no cold, blue-lipped kids at SafeSplash Swim School. Recreation center swim lessons yield cold kids because their pools must be maintained at a low enough temperature that allows adults to work out in the water. At SafeSplash we keep our pools at the optimum temperature for kids.

footer-innertube.pngWe operate out of in ground pools only.  This not only allows parents to see what is going on with their child at all times, but also in ground pools are designed to handle bigger bather loads.  Above ground pools are designed for backyard use, not public or commercial use.

Ultra-Violet Sanitation versus Salt Sanitation:
When SafeSplash opened our first dedicated facility in 2006 we used a salt sanitation system.  At that time this was considered one of the best sanitation options.  A big misconception as we started marketing our business was that salt is chlorine!  As we continued to search for the best we found the number one most effective sanitation systems was UV + chlorine.  In salt systems pool operators must keep their chlorine levels higher to kill off bacteria.  The salt is a chemical driven system.  With the top of the line UV systems pool operators can keep their chlorine levels lower because the UV light does most of the work.

Currently health departments across the country and the National Swimming Pool Foundation are pushing for every public pool to have a UV system.

Common questions:

footer-innertube.pngMy child has a rash, is it from the pool?
Typically no.  In Colorado especially this is usually do to dry skin.  However, if you notice the pool is cloudy, green in color and/or has a strong chlorine odor then it could be the pool.  At that point you should consult your pediatrician.

footer-innertube.pngMy child’s eyes are red every time they get out of the pool.  What is causing this?Contrary to popular belief this is not due to chlorine.  This is due to an imbalance in PH levels.  Unless your child is swimming the whole 30 minutes without goggles they should not have red eyes.  Any pool can irritate eyes because they are sensitive.

footer-innertube.pngShould I be worried if there is a strong chlorine odor when I walk into a pool?
Every pool will have a smell.  Just check if it is overwhelming.  A strong odor is caused by bad pool and chemical maintenance.  Usually this is build up chloramines that are not going through a proper sanitation cycle.

What can I do to find out more?

  • Ask what type of preventative maintenance they do.
  • Ask if they have a CPO/AFO on site that you can talk to about your concerns.
  • Ask what type of sanitation they use.
  • Ask them to disclose their typical chemical range.
  • Trust your gut if you don’t feel good about what your child is swimming in, they probably shouldn’t swim in it.

If you have questions about our pools feel free to speak to our head CPO Jenn Hoard at 303-799-1885 ext. 501 or jenn@safesplash.com.

SafeSplash Celebrates 6 Years!

December 7th, 2011

SafeSplash Swim School Is 6!

SafeSplash would like to thank all of our families and our communities for allowing us to teach your children for 6 wonderful years.  During our 6 years of excellence we have been able to teach thousands of children a safety skill that will serve them a lifetime.

Why parents choose SafeSplash over other lessons program:

  • Our consistency and experience:  We have been in business at the same location in Lone Tree/Parker for 5 years.  We are not going anywhere.  The experience your children receive in our facilities is unlike any other.  When you come to SafeSplash you can expect the best and we will make sure you get the best.
  • Instructor Quality:  Our instructors LOVE SafeSplash too!  We hire instructors that are committed to our program and your kids.  Many of our instructors have been with us for several years.  They know our program inside and out and will teach your children in a fun, comforting environment.
  • Water Quality:  We realize that cost is not an option when it comes to water quality.  We have spent the money to get the top of the line filtration systems installed.  At our non-dedicated facilities we monitor water quality constantly to ensure those systems are meeting our standards.  Your child’s health and safety is our number one priority.
  • Proven Curriculum:  Your children will learn best in our warm water, year round pools using our method of teaching.  We’ve developed our own program that over the past 5 years has proven to be very successful.  See what our parents are saying about it!

Since we started our business six years ago and opened our dedicated facility in Lone Tree/Parker, CO five years ago we have expanded to four other locations in Colorado (Aurora, Parker/Arapahoe, Highlands Ranch and Broomfield) two locations in California (San Jose & Lancaster), two locations in Texas (Murphy & Keller) and soon to be two locations in New Jersey (Hasbrouck Heights & Paramus).  We are committed to providing the best swimming lessons program in the nation and are dedicated to providing all of our customers the personalized attention they deserve. Without our customers support none of this would be possible.  We thank you!

“Why mess with the rest when you can swim with the best!”
